March 17, 2009 — A 20-year-old resident of St. Croix’s John F. Kennedy housing community was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder in the case of a man shot to death in the vicinity.

Rasenjoni Williams was arrested at 4 p.m. by St. Croix Police investigating the Monday morning shooting death of 33-year-old Steve Williams of Sion Farm.
According to the initial report, Police Sgt. Cecil Gumbs, who was on routine patrol, alerted emergency 911 that shots were being discharged in the John F. Kennedy housing community. When additional police officers arrived, they saw Gumbs on foot chasing a suspect who was fleeing carrying what appeared to be a firearm.
As the incident unfolded, residents called 911 and informed dispatchers of the identity of the suspect and in what apartment he sought refuge, according to Police Chief Oakland Benta.
At least people are calling the police.
Police formed a perimeter around the building and the suspect eventually surrendered without incident.
The victim was found lying near a restaurant with several bullet wounds to his body. He was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical technicians.

So it sounds like from what you said that it’s OK when a beef goes wrong to go shooting right in the middle of a busy area?!!!!???? when you will you guys take this CRAP to your OWN lousy backyard, do the shooting in the PROJECTS, not on a busy road at rush hour. When i was a young man in WI (TOTAL YANKEE LAND!) Dudes would fight fist to fist, when things got one sided everybody stoped it and the loser went home with a busted lip and lumps. After you get older you look at how stupid it was and wonder what is with this kind of killing?
There was a time in the past (I feel certain that Cheezy Bread had not popped out yet) where real men (and boys that desired to be men) settled their differences with social discourse and even their fists. Such people knew that a gun was not the answer for human life was precious. Social discourse and discussion was the way to change opinions and minds. An education was the route to a secure life and that knowledge was the key to true power over childish needs and impulses. Money was not as important as peace and understanding and that HATE was one of the roots of evil. Most little gang bangers are chicken shit immature little kiddies who only know they want and want and have never learned basic things like patience, understanding, and hard work. Many have never had a father around. Such people have no problem with pressing a button (trigger) to end a life but would faint at the thought of doing it by any other means. As we say here in the VI, Cheesey bread was “not brought up he was drug up”. I greatly fear that unless people like Cheesey change their outlook this island will not change.
