The minor told police that Lerner handed over his wallet, Marsh said.
“Mr. Frett put Mr. Lerner in the backseat of the vehicle,” he explained. “Then he got into the driver’s seat and the minor got into the passenger seat. They travelled to Friendly’s Grocery on the north side. They pulled into a private driveway in Hull Bay after that, and Mr. Frett asked the minor if he knew where the button was for the trunk of the car.”
The two put Lerner into the trunk before continuing to travel west, past Santa Maria and Bordeaux, Marsh said as he continued to recount the minor’s testimony. In the area of Blue Water Bible College, Frett parked the car in the grass, near a pathway that led into the bushes, he added.
“Mr. Frett popped the trunk, Mr. Lerner got out, and the three walked down the path. The minor said that Mr. Frett had a gun with him the whole time,” Marsh said. “As they walked down the path, Mr. Frett pointed the gun at Mr. Lerner. Mr. Lerner asked, ‘So are you going to kill me?’ Mr. Frett told him to turn around and fired a shot into the back of Mr. Lerner’s head.”

Frett and the minor then travelled back to Friendly’s Grocery, where they tried to buy tint for the windows of the car, Marsh said. After discovering the store didn’t sell tint, the duo then travelled to Western Auto, where they used Lerner’s credit card to purchase the tint, he added.

The minor also said that after Lerner’s death, the two drove his car around “on and off” for the next few days until police caught them, he added.

Both Frett and the minor have been charged with first degree murder, kidnapping, robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm. Frett has also been charged with third degree assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, unauthorized used of a vehicle, possession of stolen property, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, hit and run and failing to stop when ordered.
hopefully he goes to jail and gets ass raped for 50 years then gets aids and dies.

I live there for about a year and was glad to make it out alive. I know people who were raped, beat up beyond recognition with stun guns, metal pipes, u name it. I know people who were killed, I was harassesed by the police for being white (Edna Edwards) and almost killed up the hill from Garden St. one nite while 15 kids pushed knives thru the window screen, were attepting to kick in the door. Anyone / ANYONE / who choses to live there is putting there life in danger PERIOD. Every sentence that Judge Hollar gives from now on for a gun related crime — they will get the book thrown at them and I said GOOD! I loved my time there but to this day cannot figure out why the United States keeps that frigin island with all the money it costs.
I heard about Gabe missing from a co-worker who gos to his church. I was optismistic saying maybe he went to the hospital for an emergency and haven’t called. But unfortunately those haertless monsters killed him. I’m black originally from Haiti and i have been discriminated against but now it looks like they are targetting a specific group of people. First it was this young guy in St John now it’s Gabe… It kind of suspiscious to me. The black guys that get shot here are the thugs, they are the shooters and get cought up in something. But it seems like white people are their new target. And I HATE IT! Even at work I see so much anger toward the White people and a lot of the blacks don’t like me because I’m not some angry woman hating on the whites. When I see someone I don’t see black or white. I see a human being. Color has never been an issue to me. In Haiti, they don’t teach us to hate anyone. But here it doesn’t matter, they hate “outsiders” like they call people who are not from here. USVI may look like paradise but it’s not. Too much hate going around. I hope both murderers get like life without parole. I hope the 17-y/o get charged as an adult and I hope like you, that they get raped on a daily basis, get aids and die a slow slow slow death.
The guy is also illegal on the island. If that was an illegal “Santo” or Haitian, he would not have had the opportunity to come back here so easy and be on the streets like that. They control certain people and easy on some others. They don’t control people from Tortola coming here, they don’t raid them like they do to others (Haitians and Santos) but yet, they are illegal just like those other two groups. I am wondering what they are going to do with him. Deport him? and then what? They deported him before for crimes he comitted…
lol… St. Thomas is not that bad.. and for “live in STUSVI 4 a year’s” comment, the US keeps it because STT is the BOMB!! Lots of beautiful places to see, lots of nightlife, and exquisite dining. No other country cooks as good as STT. Definitely not STX.. STX sucks. no beautiful attractions, and they definitely cant cook. I have family there that can cook but they spent most of their lives here and most of their dishes they learnt in STT..

Your comment shows that you understand NOTHING of the social, economic, or political atmosphere on the island. You only lived here for one year. Most of the animosity towards locals and white islanders or white foreigners is a direct response to the recent acquisitioning of mass capital and political upheaval/influence by foreigners (be they white or non-white). And though this is a sad truth, America is a racist country. Did you expect that we would be free from that aspect of Americanism? Are you as passionate when you hear of injustices against Arab, Black, Latino, and Asian foreigners or citizens in America? Do you use your experience to address racism in your own race or is it the reverse racism that has you so bewildered?

When I was young growing up in St. Thomas, violent crime was so rare. Now there seems to be a whole shift in the peaceful nature of my beautiful home. I have lost 3 relatives to violence over the past years, including Officers Steven Hodge and Ariel Frett. This must stop.

It is truly a tragedy that as of last Friday 21 people were shot dead so far this year on an island of less then 60,000 persons. I find this very disturbing (an outrage), I have lived on Saint Thomas for 12 years. Coupled with the fact that so many murders are never solved, when will we as citizens of Saint Thomas demand action? Why this is happening is complex, I see no one addressing the many issues. Poor education, lack of marketable skills, racial animosity, gangland attitude, drug use. No wonder so many of our youth on this island have lost their way. The result is angry young men killing angry young men! So many young men complain of no jobs, stop thieving, get skills, speak in a way that a tourist will understand, work hard, be polite, have respect for others different than you, have manners. When we have illegal aliens here making $20.00 an hour, and young people working Main Street for $40,000 a year its nature’s way of telling you its your problem not theirs!
